How to set up Telstra Mail on your computer


This video will you show you how to
use the automatic set up wizard
on your Windows computer to set up
Telstra Mail in Outlook 2016.
While other versions of Outlook may
be similar, some steps may vary.
We’ll show you how to set up
your email automatically.
And how to set it up manually.Open Outlook.If this is the first time you’ve
opened Outlook a wizard will appear.
Enter a profile name and click ‘OK’.To perform an ‘Auto Setup’,
simply enter your name,
email address and your password,
then click ‘Next’.
If you don’t know your Telstra Mail
username or password,
you can have it resent or
reset for you, by visiting
the Telstra support website.Outlook will automatically
configure the settings for you.
Once this is completed,
click ‘Finish’.
If Automatic Setup doesn’t workyou will need to set up your
Telstra Mail manually.
Within the ‘Add Account’ windowclick on ‘Manual setup or
additional server types’
and then select ‘Next’.Select ‘POP or IMAP’
and then select ‘Next’.
Enter your name and email address.Ensure you have the
following settings:
your ‘Account Type’
should be ‘IMAP’.
Your ‘Incoming mail server’:
imap.telstra.com
and your ‘Outgoing mail server’:
smtp.telstra.com.
Enter your Username, which is
your Telstra email address
and then enter your Password.And leave‘Require logon using Secure
Password Authentication (SPA)’
unticked.Then select ‘More settings’.Change to the ‘Outgoing Server’
tab and tick
‘My outgoing server requires
authentication’.
Select ‘Use same settings as my
incoming mail server’.
Then in the ‘Advanced’ tabenter the ‘Incoming server’
port 993.
And under ‘Use the following
type of encrypted connection’,
select ‘SSL’.This will ensure your email
communication is secure.
Under ‘Use the following type of
encrypted connection’,
for the ‘Outgoing server’
choose ‘TLS’.
Then enter the
‘Outgoing server’ port 465.
Click ‘OK’.And select ‘Next’.Outlook will test
the email settings.
Once completed, click ‘Close’
then ‘Finish’ to exit the set up.
