Ron Paul on 9/11: Ask the Right Questions and Face the Truth

Ron Paul on 9/11: Ask the Right Questions and Face the Truth

Hello, this is Ron Paul with your weekly update
for September 12th. Ten years ago, shocking and horrific acts
of terrorism were carried out on U.S. soil, taking nearly 3,000 innocent American lives.
Without a doubt this action demanded retaliation and retribution. However, much has been done
in the name of protecting the American people from terrorists that has reduced our prosperity
and liberty and even made us less safe. This is ironic and sad considering that the oft-repeated
line concerning the reasoning behind the attacks is that they hate us for who we are – a free
prosperous people – that we must not under any circumstances allow the terrorists to
win. Though it is hard for many to believe, honest studies show that the real motivation
behind the 9/11 attacks, and the vast majority of other instances of suicide terrorism, is
not that our enemies are bothered by our way of life, neither is it our religion or our
wealth – rather it is primarily occupation. If you were to imagine for a moment how you
would feel if another country forcibly occupied the United States, had military bases and
armed soldiers present in our hometown, you might begin to understand why foreign occupation
upsets people so much. Robert Pape has extensively researched this issue and goes in-depth in
his book “Cutting the Fuse: The Explosion of Global Suicide Terrorism and How to Stop
It”. In fact, of the 2,200 incidents of suicide attacks he has studied worldwide since 1980,
95% were in response to foreign occupation. Pape notes that before our invasion of Iraq,
only about 10% of suicide terrorism was aimed at Americans or American interests. Since
then however, not only is suicide terrorism greatly on the rise, but 91% of it is now
directed at us. Yes, the attacks of 9/11 deserved a response, but the manner in which we responded
has allowed radicals in the Muslim world to advance a very threatening narrative about
us and our motivation in occupying their lands. Osama Bin Laden referred to us as “crusaders”
with a religious agenda to convert Muslims, westernize their culture and take control
of their resources. If we had targeted our response to only the thugs and criminals who
attacked us, and refrained from invading countries that had nothing to do with it, this characterization
would seem less plausible to the desperate and displaced. Blaming Islam alone is grossly
misleading. Instead, we chose a course of action that led to the further loss of 8,000
American lives, 40,000 wounded, and has left hundreds of thousands seeking help from the
Veterans Administration. We are $3 to $4 trillion poorer. Our military is spread dangerously
thin around the globe at the expense of protection here at home. Not only that, but we have allowed
our freedoms to be greatly threatened and undermined from within. The PATRIOT Act, warrantless
searches and wiretapping, abuse of habeas corpus, useless and humiliating circumstances
at the airport, are just a few examples of how we have allowed the terrorists to win
by making our country less free. Suicide terrorism did not exist in Iraq before we got there.
Now it does. There are no known instances of Iranians committing suicide terrorism.
If we invade and occupy Iran, expect that to change, too. Sometimes it can be very uncomfortable
to ask the right questions and face the truth. When a slick politician comes along and gives
a much more soothing, self-congratulating version of events, it is very tempting to
simply believe what we would like to hear. But listening to lies does not make us safer,
even though it might make us feel better about ourselves. The truth is that ending these
misguided wars and occupations will make us safer, more prosperous and more free. Thanks for calling this update. A new update
is placed on this number, 888-322-1414 every Monday morning. The written text can be found

@86ortega Try to pay attention here smartalec. The Dr.'s message is superb, as usual. However, the delivery is impenetrably boring to all but his most devoted fans. He can do better than that. In fact he always does, unless he's alone in a room obviously reading from a sheet into a microphone boring the crap out of everyone but those who are already on message with him. The rest of the listeners will say F-this, and tune in elsewhere. You may not like it, but that's how folks are.

  16. TheRascal5678 says:

if hes actually willing to talk about things like this i cant see him getting in office. the powerful people running things from behind the scenes wont alow it. they want another puppet like obama

  17. Goy Meets World says:

@MiniDJBeirne Perhaps because you, as well as i, thought justttt maybe "likely Republican voters" were coming around to the idea that our foreign policy is the main cause of all the hate for America out there. That's not to say there aren't those that appreciate our foreign policy to a degree, but yeah, it's disheartening to hear many voters are still ignorant and unwilling to accept truth.

  18. Goy Meets World says:

@MRoane41 Evolution is documented, not demonstrated. Natural Selection on the other hand can be seen.

  19. Goy Meets World says:

@MRoane41 That's not to say I believe in the Invisible Sky Wizard or whatever fantastic creation of man you want to ascribe to my opinion, but really… have you ever seen anything evolve…? You've seen science classify all the different evidence of species over time developing into what appear to be more adapted varieties of what they once were. How exactly is that a demonstration of evolution?

  20. Niccolò Invidia says:

Even this evening the media focused on the Pretty boys.. this is not fair!!!!!!!!! Shame!!!

Then, let me tell you how proud i am of a man that tries to speak the truth on 9/11..and is strongly contested for that.. of course radicals do not like at all U.S. but no one attack you just for this, just for what you are.. they(official version) attacked you for what you have done for years and years.. If you trust Santorum or some of the tea party you must be stupid! RON2012!

  21. AlwaysSomething says:

@MRoane41 evolution is a demonstration of intelligent design. God doesn't have to have an active hand in how evolution takes place. What do you categorize the conditions for life as? Meaning, were these conditions random as well? And if it was just randomness, why does it still exist to allow life to continue?

  22. Sonia says:

@MiniDJBeirne Denial is part of the mourning process…. unfortunately their normal reaction of denial when faced with so much grief promotes attitudes that fuel radical extremist's anger toward this nation and makes the whole world less safe.

How much this guy getting paid at Tax payer's expense??

  31. Lisa Stienster says:

all appropriate reasons, but the reason of "occupation" isn't the reason of 9/11/01. Mossad pulled it off, funded by the Rothschild Nazi Zionist Banksters, carried out by their puppets in Mossad and the criminal 'leaders' of the US government and thier mind-controlled soldiers of death inside the CIA, NSA, and various other black-op operatives. RP has a point (that we shouldn't be at war with any nation), but he's chronically avoiding the real culprits.

  41. fromero69 says:

@igotaidsinnarnia Well he does not discount science! but you have to know that in the world of science there is alot that is just taken on guesses and hunches! He believes in science, but strong well rooted science. If you really take the time to study the theories of evolution you will find it has MANY loops holes. Second of all he is against abortion because of a particular case where he was forced to participate in one. He believed it was murder, not because of the bible.

  42. travz21 says:

We get it, Ron. Your problem will be trying to convince the ignorant citizens of America. Us freethinking Americans know about blowback and know all of the terrible things this country has done the last 30+ years. Plus, Bin Laden even told us his motives! What other proof do people need?

  43. RoyElvis Dawson says:

Ron paul on yahoo news articles, it always gets deleted soon after. 2 weeks ago … I figure if both sides of the media are trying to ignore Ron Paul he must be the man to vote for. Romney + Perry will Just give us the same bullshit another wasted 4years we need to give Ron Paul a shot in 2012

  44. JustReich says:

I'll back Ron Paul, even though I'm in Australia :P, The American government needs a change, REAL CHANGE!

    RON PAUL 2012!

  45. portales2010 says:

This is the one issue I take with RP. He does not publicly push for a new 9/11 investigation, however he keeps his eyes on the US goverment as the main terrorist. The twin towers and building seven fell not due to planes and fires. You can bank you bottom dollar on that.

  46. MrBigEnchilada says:

@RoyElvisBand cnn published a biased poll against ron paul, msnbc's poll was graphically misleading and was not mentioned.

  50. MrLucky2bKing says:

Im glad Ron Paul brought this to light. It is truly heart breaking to know how many young Americans have valiantly and selflessly given their lives in vain for false and corrupt cause. To the people who died on 9/11 and the men and woman who have given there lives, may you all rest in peace.

  51. blicky2blacky says:

  56. jd says:

To vote in Republican primary, you must register to vote as Republican 4 months before your state's primary. Go do it now. Tell others!

  57. metallifreak100 says:

@thebigbossdonuk that is bs. Tell me, which hospital would turn you down uninsured? my brother back in 2001 spent a week in the hospital, needed surgery but was uninsured… guess what all the care was given to him. the Doctor's that treated him helped him out by cutting some of the bills down while the hospital agreed to let him pay $200 a month to pay down the bill.. he just finished paying it all off.. nonetheless he was not left to die and that what paul was stating!!!!

  58. Nor1987 says:

    I'll make this clear
Bachmann- 3rd world in 4 years
Obama- 3rd world in 10 years
This is the only guy who can save you Americans.

  59. John Jameson says:

@metallifreak100 yeah but hospitals go bankrupt because of uninsured people. The fact is, all industrial countries have universal health care and a lot of countries do well with it. Did you know the U.S. has the highest rates of staph infection among all industrialized countries in hospitals? How can that be if the private sector does everything better?

  63. metallifreak100 says:

@TickleMehNancy I don't disagree with you that uninsured people help the cost of healthcare go up. but how much does universal healthcare cost everyone? Look at all the European countries with universal healthcare, look at the debt to gdp ratio, on top of that look at how much taxes there people pay. I know Denmark is over 50% yet they still have all that debt. Why do drugs cost so much in general? you don't think government regulations have anything to do with that?

  64. jd says:

To vote in primary….REGISTER AS REPUBLICAN!!!!!
you must do this 4 months before your states primary.
    Do it…NOW!!

  65. John Jameson says:

@metallifreak100 European countries spend less per person than the U.S. does on healthcare. debt to gdp ratio is meaningless unless you can't issue debt denominated in a currency you have control over (the EU countries). Drugs cost a lot because it cost 500mil-1bn to create a drug and test them and then their patent runs out in 10 years. Extend the patent for 20yrs and drugs won't cost as much plus generics are inferior. Getting rid of improvements in society wont make things better.

  66. metallifreak100 says:

@TickleMehNancy So lobbyists from the drug companies have nothing to do with forcing overpriced and unsafe drugs on us? Healthcare was cheaper in this country 50 years ago when we had less goverment intervention. (inflation adjusted) The "improvements" are really just more burdens. how is it right to force people to buy a commercial product? Also people in Europe pay way more in taxes and live in tiny apartments.. yet they still are in massive debt (Greece anyone?)

  67. 86ortega says:

@marrazzousa let's see if we can squeeze him into american idol….i get what your saying but we really aren't here to recruit morons… not in a revolution of ideas… anyways this monday straight talk is about 1% of the campaign that is surging so he's doing something else right… I'm sure we agree more than we disagree.

  68. metallifreak100 says:

@TickleMehNancy U.S. spends $7,000 per person on healthcare, France $5,500, Norway $4,700. Now granted they are cheaper but what you get with that is longer waiting lists for surgeries and treatments.. We spend $7,000 yes, but we also take home more of our pay.. In Denmark if you make $75,000, you will take home about $31-$32,000 and turn around and pay $3,500 on Healthcare. In the U.S. you make $75,000.. you will keep about $50,000 or more and pay $7,000 on healthcare

  69. John Jameson says:

@metallifreak100 yeah and if you get sick you have to pay a deductible and 20% of your health costs. So if you get cancer you are stuck with like 60,000 dollars in health costs not including medication costs if your health plan doesn't cover brand name drugs or have a limit on how much they will pay.

  70. metallifreak100 says:

@metallifreak100 My healthcare is also tax deductable. I live a good life in a sizeable home, not something many europeans can say with all the taxes they pay.. Look I'm not saying healthcare is great in the U.S. actually I do agree with you that Canada among others have better healthcare, but its more like picking between the lesser of two evils Socialism style healthcare, and corporatism style healthcare.. I'm fighting for true free market style healthcare. That is all

  71. InsanityCA says:

    @ThePencil901 Whats itanimulli?

  72. metallifreak100 says:

@TickleMehNancy actually, My deductable is only $250. I only pay 10% after that.. my out of pocket maximum is only $1,500.. so If i got $100,000 in bills I'd only pay $1,750 of that.. My insurance is through my job and I pay $23 a week for it.

  73. John Jameson says:

@metallifreak100 The average coinsurance is 20% and the average deductible is 5000. Yes, some people are lucky.

I hate when i see Ron talk about 9/11 and don't call it what it is " inside job" but again he at least try to use it in best interest of America and world, and i get it, if he say it that would kill his political career and it will put his life in real danger, he is risking much already by going against NWO. American people are still asleep, blinded and afraid i just hope they will wake up and get some courage to do the right thing in 2012.
I hope you win Ron and we can start cleaning trash..

  78. metallifreak100 says:

@10majfar its through my job pepsico, its empire Blue Cross Blue shield. The insurance is out of New York even though I live in Illinois. Now it only covers me as I dont have a wife and kids.. with a family I'd pay $45 a week for 90/10 coverage, $500 deductable and a $3,000 out of pocket maximum, still not bad though. I feel for you though, i bet I will really feel your pain once I get a family.

  79. InsanityCA says:

  84. karlashburton says:

@WaltDisneyisracist In 622 Mohammad was forced to flee Mecca (the Hijra) after hearing of an assassination plan aimed at him. He decided to try & convince Jews he was the prophet of Allah. They rejected him, he was furious & since that time Jews along with pagans have been the Muslims worst enemies. Sura 5:82 "You will find that the worst enemies of the believers are the Jews and the idol worshipers." As long as Muslims follow the Koran there will never be peace. Muslims think Allah hates Jews.

  85. karlashburton says:

@WaltDisneyisracist Mohammad dictated many suru's in the Koran explaining what Allah thought of the Jews, so what ever is in that "Holy" book, (the exact copy of what Allah has in Heaven) Muslims must believe. Mohammad is considered the perfect man, the finest example of how a Muslim must live. On one occasion after the Jewish Banu (tribe) Qurazah surrendered to Mohammad's forces he had around 800 men and pubescent boys beheaded. Beheading enemies is still popular to this day with Islamists.

  86. karlashburton says:

@WaltDisneyisracist The Crusades were instigated to repel Islamic conquests which had conquered huge areas of Europe and Asia after Mohammad's death. The Muslim offensive was finally halted in the West at the Battle of Poitiers/Tours, not far from Paris, in 732 AD.

We need this man to lead our country back into freedom and liberty prosperity. He's 100% right on every issue. All other candidates are liers and evil don't let Obama or newt gringrichs evil spread. They are trying to change the Islam way of life for a one world gvt. Police state

  95. Kronicilln3ss says:

@youtreat I'd like to see ur evidence of this? Cuz I've only heard all the other candidates say that kind of nonsense gringrichs wants to get rid of the constitution and make a one world gvt. Police state and destroy freedom tell u who u can date and marry or have sex with WTF Paul wants to end war make jobs legize drugs so patients sick ppl can get meds n end taxes maybe he Ment it in a way that would make us all high class no mid n low

  96. Kronicilln3ss says:

Paul knows that 911 was incited and allowed to happens and was even a demolition controlled look At the evidence it was am inside job so we could start this war to change there ways and steel there oil

  97. Adeeb Shady says:

This is a verse from Quran Specifically talking about "Radical Muslims".
And [there are] those [hypocrites] who took for themselves a mosque for causing harm and disbelief and division among the believers and as a station for whoever had warred against Allah and His Messenger before. And they will surely swear, "We intended only the best." And Allah testifies that indeed they are liars

  98. Adeeb Shady says:

And this another for those who dont want to Believe, But Rather be Mislead by the Media.
"They hypocrites are apprehensive lest a surah be revealed about them, informing them of what is in their hearts. Say, "Mock [as you wish]; indeed, Allah will expose that which you fear."

  99. earthicastar says:

America IS an occupation…It is occupied even further by a British Empire subject Barry Soetoro,… or whatever his name is.. when are you gonna expose THAT Ron?

  100. waltsimsjr says:

It took months to set up the controlled demolition to free fall all three World Trade Center Buildings. Any aspiring politician who refuses to acknowledge 9/11 for the inside job both orchestrated and executed by the Bush/Cheney administration is either in on it or stupid. It makes no difference whether they are Republican, Democrat or Independent, when they persist to perpetuate this humongous lie regarding the greatest crime in the history of United States, they should be tried for treason.
